This post is mean, because if your financial situation is anything like mine, DAY Birger et Mikkelson will be nothing more than a DAY-dream. Nevertheless, appreciating beautiful things from afar (which has become my forte as of late) has its place and these clothes are certainly worth a longing gaze.
Inspired by far away cultures, vintage glamour and modern basics, the Danish brand DAY Birger et Mikkelson delivers sophisticated bohemian styling that melds maximalism with Scandinavian simplicity. The brainchild of businessman and designer Keld Mikkelsen, the brand was launched in 1997 and includes women’s, men’s and homeware lines. His vision was to create design with historic, ethnic depth and personality that added a bit of a party feel to everyday dressing — hence dresses and camisoles with whimsical names such as “gateau” and “fairy”. Today, Mikkelsen’s original vision is developed and enhanced by ready-to-wear designer Michala Wiesneck.
From the earthy colors featured in DAY’s Summer 2007 collection to the striking detial found in each garment, what’s not love? Ready to splurge? Check them out at net-a-porter. Don’t you just love the sequin trim top?
