I do this every weekend. I go into it with the idea that I’m going to relax. A leisurely stroll down Centre Street. Maybe a trip to Boomerangs (you never know what you’re going to find there… there have definitely been vintage Chanel and Doir sightings) or Rhythm and Muse for a good book. But whenever I wake up I’m still in work-mode and feel like I need to head into the day at full speed. This weekend I really am trying to relax.
As such, I thought the relaxed, elegant style of frei would be a perfect way to start things off. Frei believes that beautiful clothing starts with beautiful ethics. The goal from the company’s inception has been to make sustainable practices the backbone of their trade. Combing ethics with unique, finely crafted garments, frei continues to set itself apart from the rest.
The team at frei upholds three specific values in the design and production of garments: style, quality and sustainability. Through meticulously constructed, detail-oriented patterns that enhance both the figure and personality of the buyer, the garments themselves boast a distinctive impression of timeless elegance. While the team at frei is careful to keep an eye toward emerging trends within the industry, they are more influenced by experience, finding inspiration through travel, unique materials, and extensive research and study of the history of dress. Frei strives to retain a personal connection with each garment. Through the use of hand-dying techniques and selection of uncommon fabrications, buttons and trim, the team at frei ensures that all items are individually imprinted with the mark of their creators…
Frei is working hard to make high design and ethics “the new black.” I’m working hard on coming to terms with the fact that reading “Soul on Ice” while actively highlighting the phrases that enrage or inspire me is not really relaxing. When is Plum Sykes going to come out with a new book?
