Sometimes the best things are hidden and the most obvious things are nothing but a mask. This is especially true when it comes to people. I hate being let down when someone shows you their true colors; a disappointment easily remedied when someone you least expect shows you a wonderfully insightful side you ever knew existed. It’s hard to stop and really see people for who they are sometimes. Especially when you’re moving at warp speed though your days… Anyway, before I get carried away… on to today’s designer. Illustrating this point in a fashionable sense is Private Arts:
Private Arts is a concept that began in the summer of 2008 by two designers from FIDM and a gallery artist with an MFA. Private Arts was molded into an art based intimates line that became a reality one year later. Their focus is anti muffin top with a creative twist on artistic expression; a combination of the modern aspects of art and the eclectic edge of fashion. The art is focused on different personality types found in the modern woman.
The idea of putting art on panties translates into a kind of freedom of expression. Panties are something that, traditionally, should be kept underneath something, (hidden). Art is something that is, traditionally, meant to be exposed for the world to see. A strange juxtaposition occurs when fusing art and under wear resulting in an intriguing concept.
Private Arts is designed and made near the sunny beaches of Southern California and recently debuted it’s Spring 2010 collection!
Thank goodness for recently un-hidden personalities and pretty undies that are meant to be seen!
