Jot down your resolutions on this Memo pad from Olive Manna!
I am not a big New Years resolution person… however, 2010 just looks and sounds like a fresh beginning. This past decade has certainly tested me in every conceivable way… now with a new one on the horizon, I figure that the least I can do is start with a clean slate.
Step 1 (before the resolutions): Clean Slate:
I mean…
Q: When was the last time you actually went through your clothes with the idea of streamlining your wardrobe?
My A: Before today? About 2 years ago. But after much sorting, stacking, sniffing (saying goodbye to Versace is not an easy thing to do) and stuffing, I have over 3 contractor bags full of clothes for charity. As much as I tried to convince myself otherwise, I have come to the conclusion that nobody needs 32 pairs of jeans. I mean… you just don’t.
Q: Look at your surroundings… are they conducive to your goals? Your creative process?
My A: For the most part yes. However, as I looked around at the warm neutral colors surrounding me I couldn’t help but focus on a glaring inconsistency. A relic from a past relationship, if you will. For the past two years I have attempted to be creative on this ugly, industrial, titanium and metal desk (yuck). Today I replaced it with a gorgeous (and reasonably priced) white wooden desk that I actually bought from Target. I love the fact that my creative space finally feels like mine again!
Q: Personal Life Stuff….
My A: Best not to get into that stuff here :).
Anyway, despite the fact I’m attempting to downsize and simplify, there’s always room for beauty in my life. Not to mention that this is my site’s 5-Year Anniversary! Yay! More later.
