One to Watch: Astrid Andersen

Menswear usually bores me… but I’m loving the shape, movement and style that Astrid Andersen brings to her designs.

Astrid Andersen is a fashion menswear designer graduating this year from the Royal College of Art. She is from Denmark but is now London based.

She has developed a style with strong references to sportswear and street wear and merges this with an exploration into shapes and materials. With attitude and attention to detail as two key elements to her work, her designs represent a new generation of masculinity that questions the conventional way of dressing powerful and sexy as a man.

Whilst studying at the RCA she has been awarded the Brioni ‘creativity and innovation award’ in 2009. The same year she was also awarded the River Island ‘MA student bursary award’ and created 3 looks for them to be in stores in spring 2010.

The Royal College of Art MA show is the 9th and 10th of June 2010.
