A Neo Dia Down Under…

You know how much I love Australian designers, so you can imagine how excited I was to read about the new Australian label Neo Dia by Gavin Lowes and Becky Chua. I love these structured designs; they’re both playful and totally wearable. Speaking of playful… all I dreamt about last night was the beach (thanks MPO). I really don’t know if I can make it through another winter in the North East. Why am I dressed head to toe in fleece right now?! Brrrr!

From their facebook site:

Recent graduates of fashion at RMIT, Gavin and Becky met on the first day of the course and have been stitched at the hip ever since. With individual aesthetics so aligned, a collaboration between the two young designers was impossible to resist. Neo Dia was born of a shared vision for modern, ready-to-wear collections with a sassy algebraic twist.

Neo Dia’s first collection is at play with proportion. It explores an expanded mesh cutting technique that gives woven fabrics stretch and creates slashed waves across the body. The lines are crisp and geometric – exaggerated silhouettes and primary shapes billowing from the body juxtaposed on form-fitting garments. Sparked by the glorious geometric stylings of Escher and exalted by delightful experimentations with expanded mesh, this Neo Dia collection is clean, modern and beautifully architectural.
