What do you see? A man between two trees (that’s what I saw)? A boat? Step back… do you see the skull? I am obsessed with this label from the 2007 Skulls Red Wine:
“The 2007 Skulls Red Wine is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro raised in stainless steel. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an expressive bouquet of garrigue, forest floor, spice box, and cherry. Forward, medium-bodied, and friendly, this savory effort will drink well over the next six years. Chateau Chateau is a label created by importer Dan Philips and marketed under the R Wines umbrella. Its stated purpose is to demonstrate the effects of soil and place on Grenache (and blends) from the best terroirs in Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. The Barossa Reserve wines are limited production cuvees, most of them under 150 cases. Each has its own distinctive label representing its place of origin.”
The best part? It’s rated 90/100 by The Wine Advocate
