I Put A Spell On You…

29 Aug ’11 4:55 am

I have been terrible about writing lately. Things to blame: bright eyes… my favorite enigma…hurricanes… mi sol… trouble… etc. This always happens, the end summer (sniff)  has me running around like a crazy person trying to soak up those last rays of sunshine… Plus, with a million fashion weeks around the corner, I know I’ll be back at in full force soon. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my content relevant (emerging designers) and will try not to inundate* you with monotonous FW coverage. My goal is to get to NYC for FNO, but my “real job” may have other plans for me. Anyway, I digress…

Today’s designers are the awesome duo behind Australian label Spell.

For as long as sisters Elizabeth and Isabella can remember they’ve been enamoured by the feeling created when you combine feathers, leather and turquoise.

In the 1960s and 70s their father was a leather craftsman and their mother was a potter, painter and wove brightly coloured threads on a loom. It seems only natural that the sisters would end up here, in Byron Bay, living a creative passion that flows from their family.

Their label Spell has grown into something the sisters had once only dreamed about. At first they created jewellery and accessories, then fashion, and now theyve opened their own flagship boutique, Spell – The Gypsy Collective.

Hidden amongst the galleries and artist’s studios of Byron’s Arts & Industry Park, the boutique is the sisters’ very own gypsy wonderland, and stocks their iconic Native American inspired adornments, fashion & footwear, as well as an eclectic collection of recycled and vintage fashion treasures.

*GRE word. Anyone know of a math tutor with a sense of humor (you need one to tutor me in math) in the Boston area?

I forget where I got this lead… an email maybe? You know how I love my Australian designers… Anyway if it was from you let me know and I will credit you here:_________.

More later! Happy Monday!!
