Twitter shorthand is so amusing to me because it has slowly morphed into this whole new language and way of communicating. Just recently, I learned that hash-marks at the beginning of mushed together phrases is a way to propel them (and any subsequent 140 letter thought) into twitter’s virtual spotlight. #ItsFunnyHow that works, right? I know I am late with the Twitter thing. Quite honestly, it’s sort of daunting. It demands your attention. The minute you digest one trend, 200 others have come and gone. It’s sparked science and research… and today it found it’s way into my post title.
For a good, exciting cause of course. . .  London College of Fashion (@LCFLondon) is broadcasting it’s 2012 Master’s collections (#MA12) LIVE in about 12 hours.

What a crazy day of football yesterday, right?! Anyway– it’s Monday. I overslept and I have tons to do…
I thought this cute little whatever-this-is/ happy-new-year-thing from Mono (ad company, Via NotCot) would serve as a nice intro into the week.
I don’t know anything about the company, but I like their “simplicity is nothing more than what it needs to be,” attitude as it’s the one I’ve adopted for the new year.

I was so looking forward to a relaxing weekend . . . unfortunately, I spent most of it working. At least today’s work had a Patriots game soundtrack. Anyway, once I was finally done, I thought it’d be nice sit and relax with a glass of wine. But that required leaving my apartment, so I resigned to making cookies (from scratch!) instead. In retrospect, the walk to the wine shop at the end of my street would have required far-less effort . . . but you have to admit there is something very therapeutic about making something, anything, from scratch. Sometimes the process is more fun than the end result. Luckily, that wasn’t the case here: cookie recipe (I made a few modifications).

And when designer Sabine Marcelis finally starts selling her awesome all-in-one home-brew installation (above), all of my Sunday afternoon relaxation issues will be solved. Be sure to check out all of Sabine’s work, she’s quite talented!

Happy Monday! To start of this Thanksgiving week, I thought I’d introduce you to MUUSE, if you aren’t familiar with the site already. MUUSE is great fashion start up with the goal of promoting up-and-coming fashion designers from the world’s top fashion schools.

MUUSE is currently collaborating with Vogue Talents to find MUUSE’s most promising designer by VOGUE Talents (this could be YOU!)

The contest is calling all up-and-coming womenswear designers to submit their mini-collections to muuse.com where they will be subject to public vote. The top 50 vote-getters will be presented to VOGUE Italia’s senior fashion editor Sara Maino. She’ll select the final 10 designers who will each receive a production opportunity with MUUSE and the chance to enter the final public vote to become (in a Tyra Banks ANTM voice): MUUSE’s most promising designer by VOGUE Talents! Winner will receive a feature and picture gallery in VOGUE Talents and on MUUSE’s website during Fashion Weeks in February 2012.

This contents is a great opportunity for up-and-coming designers to see their first collections produced and sold and featured in one of the world’s leading fashion magazines.

So… I encourage all of my favorite aspiring designers to enter this contest– and please let me know if you do, maybe I can help you get a few votes! Whether you’re entering or not, be sure to check out MUUSE and all of it’s emerging talents.
