So… I’m not gonna lie and say that I am totally above brand obsession. I’m still not a big logo person (I don’t get the whole, “I’m going to pay $500 for this and provide free advertising for the company” thing), but there are certain labels I definitley run to every time (Chanel, Naketano, Camilla Skovgaard, Under Armour, etc.). We all have our favorites.
Brandages though? Really?

Remember when rapper Nelly used to wear a band-aid on his face? And when band-aid’s tried to fashionable?

And of course there are culturally conscious bandages , bacon bandages, pickle bandages and . . . I will just stop there.

Personally, I think the whole thing is pretty ridiculous… but who am I to judge when the only band-aids in my medicine cabinet look like this?

When I was really young my mom used to give me these big cardboard-y books that contained pop-out paper dolls and clothing. I’d spend hours mixing and matching outfits.  Maybe that’s where I developed my passion for fashion?

Anyway, Trendland modernizes and materializes the paper doll concept with their cute affiliate shop promotion designed by illustrator Judith van den Hoek. Don’t you just love fashion illustration? Along the same “cute promotion” lines, Chanel aims to show that you’re never to young for couture… or too old for a little coloring book time… (yes, I colored in the shoes).

A conversation with a recent acquaintance reminded me of the power of the human mind. Okay, I know that sounds a wee bit dramatic, but the gist of the conversation was the mind’s unique ability to mold reality with thought. For instance, autumn is usually my least favorite time of the year (for a number of reasons that defeat positive thinking to post). However, this year I have made a concerted effort to embrace the change of season– to marvel at the leaves falling, to take solace in the warmth of a new sweater, new smiles, and delicious pumpkin ales. This very deliberate and going-against-the-way-I-normally-think way of thinking started back in August (I figured it was best to start early) and I have to say… drum roll please… it’s actually working!! I am having a blast this fall and my determined decision to see my current situation in a new light, has actually made the original light shining on it brighter. Pretty cool!

On that note, I thought I’d share this adorable little necklace by Stacy of Goodthings88 on Etsy. When I was a kid I used to sit in my backyard and marvel that these adorable little nuts could turn into a tree… so not only is the necklace super-cute and made by a Boston-based designer, it’s also symbolic of fall’s potential… and yours!
