Personally, I don’t plan. I do better when I just go with the flow and follow my intuition . . . most of the time.
However, when it comes to fitness, routine and consistency are key. That’s what I like about Kayla Itsines’ BBG app ($20/ month on iTunes). The program isn’t mind blowing- in fact it includes pretty simple exercises that you’re probably already doing:
(sorry about the music)- but it demands consistency. You get a cute little planner, a fitness routine for each day, and when you complete your goal the app celebrates with confetti.
Contrast that with the newly revamped Nike+ Fitness app.
The Nike+ app (free, iTunes) is packed with features, which makes it sort of unwieldy at first, but once you get the hang of it, I think you’ll really love it. The coolest thing about this app (aside from the fact it pairs seamlessly with Nike+ running) is that has several fully adaptive fitness programs. Yup, the programs actually adapt to you and your progress.
There are also a lot more options with this app- you can choose a race based program (5k- marathon), a gym strong program (this one is really fun), or a body-strength fitness program, which is great if you don’t have access or a gym or equipment.
The Nike+ plan is also really easy to edit and accounts for tons of activities (yoga, rowing, even golf). Kayla is super adorable- and so is her app, but if you want a really fitness plan that adapts to you and your ability – Nike wins hands down. Plus, dude. It’s free.
