Nowadays everyone is walking around with little canvas bags. It’s the “thing” to do, you know, looking out for the planet, doing your part, etc. A friend and I were chatting the other day about all the free advertising this new “ecotrend” has produced. Now the women with LV’s, double C’s and Big D’s are also walking billboards for Whole Foods (ok, I admit it, I have about 4 Whole Foods bags… my fav is the Sheryl Crow design), TJ Maxx (The New IT Bag), Stop and Shop, you name it. It’s like we’re all branded. Our shoes, our clothes, our bags, our sunglasses…. it’s like enough already!

In the spirit of poking fun and making a statement I created this bag/ logo for myself and my friends to make fun of all the corporate-branded people out there… it got enough compliments and/or strange looks that I decided to offer it here. I wanted to keep stock for myself, but I hardly have time to grocery shop ….I know I wouldn’t be able to keep an inventory, etc., so I enlisted the help of CafePress. That way it’s all secure and easy to buy. You can also get t-shirts there. Everything is $25. I’m working on some more ideas, so be sure to check in with the Shop page from time to time!

My web guru is in the process of helping me open a “real” on-line store. I envision: T-shirts, Bags, and the occasional piece of local couture.
If you want to be a part of the Urban Socialite online shop, email me (best to use designer@urbansocialite.com ) and we can chat.

I promise I will be better at answering my emails. Seriously!

I woke feeling inspired… which is always a good thing. Especially on a Friday.
I know I have tons of emails to respond to and designers to post… you know how I can be though. For all of my amazing qualities, flightiness is not one of them!
Anyway today’s designer is Cali-based Kucoon. I am officially obsessed with Andrea Spratt’s inspired designs. Usually I have no problem picking what picture to post to represent a brand… but in this case I literally wanted to post the whole portfolio. Her stuff is off the hook! Her partner Sheila B. Andrea has created a lovely jewelry collection and the combination of the two creates a creative, unique and ethereal beauty. Kucoon is for the girl with a flair for the theatrical and who wants to create a little magic in her world. The brand uses organic elements like cotton, leather, feathers and crystals juxtaposed with the unexpected frivolity of stripes, ruffles and lace in their collections.

Speaking of ethereal beauty, you have to check out MAC’s Cremesheen lipstick collection. The stuff is amazing. So rich and creamy and lasts all day! I may not be a modest person, but I’ve been wearing the shade for the past two weeks straight! Love it!
