Good morning and thanks for all the emails!  Today’s designer is super-stylish and ec0-friendly…  so she’s a lady after my own heart!  More about the brand from the site:

The Allison Parris collection was founded by designer Allison Parris and lawyer/entrepreneur Marissa Kim in the Fall of 2008. The Allison Parris collection is a feminine and sophisticated line that combines luxurious fabrics, contrasting textures and vintage-inspired detail.
Representing the founders’ commitment to eco-responsibility, the line uses sustainable, organic and/or repurposed fabrics without sacrificing style. The line also uses recycled PET satin, made from recycled soda bottles, to line many of its pieces. Allison trained at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and has worked with designers such as Catherine Malandrino and Cynthia Rowley. While Allison has been designing custom gowns for years for a loyal clientele, her collaboration with Marissa is her first ready-to-wear line and represents her distinctive creative vision.

Allison Parris makes an effort to operate its business in a environmentally and socially responsible manner. Allison Parris sources sustainable and organic fabrics in the line where possible without compromising the quality and aesthetic of the clothing. Allison Parris lines many of its pieces in recycled PET satin made from recycled plastic bottles. All fur used in the collection is vintage repurposed fur. In an effort to contribute to the revitalization of New York’s garment district and support American businesses, Allison Parris uses domestic fabric suppliers and factories that pay fair wages.

Allison Parris continues to research sustainable fabrics and ways to reduce the environmental impact of production in future collections.

AP’s Silk Strapless Cocktail Dress with Carved Brass Paillettes was recently featured on Inhabitant’s 7 Spectacular Sustainable Summer Party Dresses (trying saying that 3 times fast!). Enjoy her gorgeous, socially responsible collection!

Sorry for the Dem Franchize Boyz reference… it was just so fitting!
Before I get to today’s designer I have to say that yesterday was one of those days that’s going to take a long time to digest. I am sitting in my office (on my week off, of course, see how dedicated I am?) trying to make sense of everything. I truly feel like the luckiest person ever sometimes. I just know the greatest people. It’s humbling to have such an amazing group of friends, you know? Once I make sense of things I will try to do a better job of articulating… but for now I am just overwhelmingly thankful for it all…

Enough mushy stuff on to the fashion and my excuse for quoting Dem Franchize Boyz (again, so sorry)–
Today’s designer is Angela Johnson,  a clothing designer, fashion design instructor, Arizona fashion industry leader, fashion business consultant and fashion show coordinator with over 14 years in the fashion industry.  Angela is an award-winning, indie designer who handcrafts cutting edge, eco-friendly clothing consisting mainly of dresses created from recycled or “thrifted” T-shirts. She is best known for her “T-shirt Ballgowns.”  I mean, seriously how cool are these dresses?  A t-shirt ballgown is like my dream peice of apparel… soft and comfy but tres glam at the same time!

Today Angela’s designs can be found in a handful of physical and online boutiques as well as her website. She has a steady following of dedicated customers for whom she designs custom gowns and kitschy art inspired apparel.  I love them! Enjoy.
