With all the hype surrounding fashion week and the Oscars, I needed a little break from the excess (hence the lackadaisical posting). Maybe it’s my job or maybe it’s the economy, but for whatever reason I was kind of overwhelmed by the juxtaposition of those two events and excess in general. That being said, I was really glad to see Slumdog Millionaire win Best Picture. I really loved that movie!

In an effort to recover from my new-found ambivalence, I spent my weekend relaxing with the fam, thinking about life, and watching Generation Kill (you have to watch this HBO series. It’s amazing). After a quick breather, I’m ready to jump back into my complicated life!

On that note, one thing that is never complicated is great style. That’s why you’ll love sarahseven’s adorable little Etsy shop. An independent designer hailing from Portland Oregon, Sarah is inspired by old Hollywood glamor, pearls, recycled fabrics, romance, nature, and lace, among other things. Her dresses are absolutely gorgeous and totally unique. Ever caring, 5% of all purchases go to charity!

Now that’s excess I can enjoy!

A Kucoon you won’t want to shed!

I woke feeling inspired… which is always a good thing. Especially on a Friday.
I know I have tons of emails to respond to and designers to post… you know how I can be though. For all of my amazing qualities, flightiness is not one of them!
Anyway today’s designer is Cali-based Kucoon. I am officially obsessed with Andrea Spratt’s inspired designs. Usually I have no problem picking what picture to post to represent a brand… but in this case I literally wanted to post the whole portfolio. Her stuff is off the hook! Her partner Sheila B. Andrea has created a lovely jewelry collection and the combination of the two creates a creative, unique and ethereal beauty. Kucoon is for the girl with a flair for the theatrical and who wants to create a little magic in her world. The brand uses organic elements like cotton, leather, feathers and crystals juxtaposed with the unexpected frivolity of stripes, ruffles and lace in their collections.

Speaking of ethereal beauty, you have to check out MAC’s Cremesheen lipstick collection. The stuff is amazing. So rich and creamy and lasts all day! I may not be a modest person, but I’ve been wearing the shade for the past two weeks straight! Love it!
