Let me start by saying I’m not a big wedding person. The planning, the scheduling, the band/ food/ place settings… ugh! The whole thing seems like a nightmare. To me, if and when it ever happens, I want the day to be about two things: me and the guy I marry… period. I’ve never been one for pomp and circumstance (unless of course, you count my reaction when I find a great pair of Marc Jacobs shoes on sale at DSW or something…)

Anyway, I tend to think people over-do the whole thing. When I first heard about Punk Rock Bride I was skeptical. I thought, “great, just what we need, another wedding gown designer…” then, I saw the dresses. Designer Stephanie Ward literally took my breath away with her truly original take on the conventional wedding dress.

A RISD grad (I took classes there when I was at Brown and was always truly amazed at how talented their students are), Stephanie graduated with degree in Apparel Design. Each year of her tenure, her designs were selected for RISD’s annual collection, with her first year’s innovative design winning recognition and accolade in Travel + Leisure magazine. Shortly thereafter, Stephanie served as an apprentice at the design house of Robert Scott and David Brooks, and upon graduating, worked as a freelancer for Sigrid Olsen.

Following that, Stephanie created Punk Rock Bride in response to an overwhelming number of brides who were looking for something different… who were  underwhelmed by the fluff of a traditional gown.  While her designs are unique, they still maintain simple silhouettes and find uniqueness in their details and mixing of nontraditional fabrics. Each dress is made with the highest quality fabrics, level of craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Stephanie offers a refreshing, youthful, urban alternative to the traditional wedding dress… enjoy!
